The Richard Jefferies Museum is housed in the writer's birthplace and home. The main farmhouse building was commissioned by Richard Jefferies' grandfather in 1820 and his father worked the small dairy farm. It was purchased by Swindon Council in the 1920s and the Museum was introduced in 1960. It contains original features and family memorabilia supplied by the Richard Jefferies Society who also supervise the open days.
