Poole Museum is housed in a 19th century warehouse close to Poole Quay. The museum re-opened in 2007 following a major redevelopment. As well as a stunning new entrance and atrium, public facilities include a visitor lounge and terrace with magnificent views over Poole Harbour and the Old Town. The rich history of the ancient port town of Poole is revealed in four floors of galleries
Occupying the adjoining Town Cellars, an important medieval port building, Poole History Centre holds extensive research materials for all aspects of research into the town’s history.
Poole Museum is open throughout the year and entry is free. Poole Museum Service aims to encourage the understanding, enjoyment and appreciation of Poole’s heritage. A selection of paintings from the collection can be seen in the permanent and temporary displays at Poole Museum. For enquiries and viewing appointments relating to works in the museum stores, please contact the collection.
