Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres are for anyone who has been affected by cancer. Maggie's is about empowering people to live with, through and beyond cancer by bringing together professional help, communities of support and building design to create exceptional centres for cancer care. Maggie's Highlands opened in 2005 , the fourth Maggie's centre to open in Scotland. The building was the second Maggie’s to be designed by David Page of Page & Park Architects. The landscape architect was Charles Jencks, co-founder of Maggie’s. The building is strikingly sculptural, full of light and curving spaces which David Page describes as aiming to ‘create a sense of embrace.’ The centre boasts a small but significant collection of Scottish art, much of which was donated by collector Neil Livingston in 2001. The Livingston Collection contains over 150 works with a large number of Scottish landscapes dating from 1850 to the present day. The Highlands collections boasts works by William Walls and George Grosvenor Thomas.
