Lamport Hall

Lamport Hall

More about

Lamport Hall is a grade I listed country house developed from a Tudor manor during the Commonwealth. The Hall is now best known for its classical frontage started by architect John Webb in 1655. The Hall has been the home of the Isham family for over 400 years and is now owned by the Lamport Hall Preservation Trust set up by Sir Gyles Isham, 12th Baronet in 1974. The Hall boasts many fine rooms, including a superb library, furnished and decorated with a wealth of outstanding furniture, books, china and paintings collected by the Ishams, many during the third Baronet's Grand Tour of Europe in the 1670s. The Hall sits in tranquil gardens and parkland. The gardens were originally laid out in 1655 by Gilbert Clarke and have been extended and restored to bring them back to their former glory.
