More about

The Hands on History Museum is situated in one of Hull's oldest buildings, built between 1583 and 1585 to house the Grammar School and Merchant Adventurer's Hall. It is one of nine sites that constitute Hull City Council Museums. The collection of paintings in the museum may be small but is still significant. It showcases the town's important local heritage and informs our understanding of life and society between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries.

The Hands on History Museum is free and open to all. Housed in the former grammar school, where William Wilberforce studied, it gives a fascinating glimpse of the story of Hull in Victorian times. It also includes an Egyptian Gallery containing replicas of Tutankhamun's treasures. There is an interactive Victorian children's gallery on the ground floor.
