The aim of the Council’s Museum and Visitor Service is to promote greater awareness of the history and cultural heritage of the Council area. The service manages a number of sites including the Guildhall, the Tower Museum, a museum and archive store, an archive and genealogy service and associated learning and outreach programmes and events. The museums provide a forum for the understanding of the diverse historical and cultural traditions that exist within the area. This is achieved by collecting, recording, conserving and curating evidence from the past and by making the collections and research available to the public.
