Armagh County Museum is the oldest county museum in Ireland, set in Armagh’s beautiful tree-lined Mall. As well as collections relating to archaeology, transport, economic and social history, there is also an important and extensive costume collection.
The art collection includes hundreds of works on paper as well as the oils and acrylics that can be accessed here. Works by many well-known Irish artists are represented, such as T. P. Flanagan, Maurice MacGonigal, Beatrice Glenavy, James Humbert Craig, Maurice Wilks, John Luke, Cecil Maguire, James Sinton Sleator, William Conor, and Charles Lamb. The collection of works by 'AE' (George Russell) is one of the largest in Ireland.
