More about

Flag Fen is one of the most important archaeological sites in Europe. In the Bronze Age as the water level started to rise people undertook an amazing feat of engineering. Using over a quarter of a million timbers they built a causeway and platform stretching for a mile across the wetlands. Archaeologists discovered Bronze Age and Celtic weapons, jewellery and tools during excavations along the causeway. The collection at Flag Fen encompasses not only these artefacts but also a small collection of paintings produced by local artists to help tell the story of the site's prehistoric past.
