The Holburne Museum

The Holburne Museum, established in 1882, was the first public art gallery in the city of Bath, Somerset. It is home to the collection of Sir William Holburne (1793-1874) and includes over 4,000 artefacts bequeathed to the people of Bath by his sister, Mary Anne Barbara Holburne (1802-1882). Since his death, more than 2,000 items have been added to his collection including paintings by some of the greatest artists of the eighteenth century.
