Stromness Museum was founded in 1837, and its collections cover Orkney’s maritime and natural history, including artefacts brought home by Orcadians travelling the world. Its building, dating back to 1856, houses Victorian natural history collections, maritime models and artworks, antiquarian artefacts, and an array of items relating to the Orkney-born explorer Dr John Rae.
