Derby Museums

Derby Museums and Art Gallery are home to a rich and eclectic mix of artworks, representing an array of artists, subjects, styles, and periods, with a focus on works of local relevance. Established in 1872 with the bequest of three late Italian Renaissance paintings from local collector and philanthropist Joseph Strutt, highlights now include the world’s largest collection of paintings by Joseph Wright of Derby and the Alfred Goodey collection of nineteenth- and twentieth-century views of Derby, as well as works by Ernest Townsend, Marion Adnams, Benjamin West, Derek Jarman and Michael Porter.
