This painting is by an unknown artist, and was discovered in the Bradford Industrial Museum in 2006. The central building looming darkly against the sky is Bradford Parish Church, a building which has been known as Bradford Cathedral since 1919. The view perhaps dates to the early twentieth century, with men in hats, horses and carts, but no motorised vehicles. The various figures go about their business in the much lighter foreground, while at the top of the picture, the industrial chimneys belch smoke out into a cloudy – but ultimately blue – Yorkshire sky.
