Shane Strachan is Art UK's Learning and Engagement Officer for Scotland and Northern England. He is also a freelance writer who holds a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Aberdeen.

Recent projects include Nevertheless (amaBooks) based on Muriel Spark's years in Africa and featuring illustrations by Donald Urquhart, 'The Shelter', a live drawing and verbatim theatre show developed with the National Theatre of Scotland, and multiple projects inspired by the life and work of fashion designer Bill Gibb, for which he was awarded a 2018 Scottish Book Trust Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship.
