Maurice is the author of the new illustrated biography entitled The Missing Colourist – the search for John Maclauchan Milne, RSA. He has self-published this biography and copies are available from themissingcolourist.co.uk
His interest in Milne began with a watercolour painting of Rosemount Golf Course, by Blairgowrie, Perthshire. Local research uncovered that this was one of a set of landscapes completed by Milne in the summer of 1932, exhibited at his studio in Dundee in Oct/Nov 1932, and listed in the catalogue of a three-man exhibition in Dundee in Feb/March 1933.
This painting was the start of 'the search for John Maclauchlan Milne RSA'.
Maurice has a technical business background as a Consulting Engineer in sustainable energies. He is a graduate of Edinburgh Napier, Heriot-Watt and Edinburgh Universities.
