Imogen Gibbon is Deputy Director and Chief Curator of Portraiture at the National Galleries of Scotland. She began her career as a curator at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. In 2002 she was appointed Senior Curator of the Reference Section at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery; she took up her current role in 2013. She has curated many portraiture exhibitions at the National Galleries of Scotland on a variety of topics, including sport, medicine, engineering, architecture, science, the portrait bust and self-portraiture.

A Trustee of The Hockey Museum, she is also a member of the fine art judging panel for the Scottish Portrait Awards and sits on the judging panel for the British Society of Sports History Lord Aberdare Literary Prize. Imogen is an alumnus of the University of St Andrews and Aberystwyth University.
