Dr Damian Barr is an award-winning writer and broadcaster. The Two Roberts, his new novel, is out with Canongate in Sept 2025 and is his fictionalisation of the lives of artists Robert MacBryde and Robert Colquhoun. He is curating a show of their work for Charleston in Lewes, opening October 2025.
He is the author of Maggie & Me, a Sunday Times Memoir of the Year and now a major play with the National Theatre of Scotland. His debut novel, You Will Be Safe Here, was a BBC Radio 4 Book at Bedtime and Book of the Year in The Observer, Guardian and Financial Times. He presents the Big Scottish Book Club on BBC television and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He is a keen chicken fancier and lives in Brighton.
