I am a freelance writer and art curator based in Cambridge, with a particular interest in the art of the early twentieth century and the opportunities for women to develop professional careers at that time. Currently, I am researching the life and career of Anna Airy (1882–1964).

Publications include Portraits of Women: Gwen John and her Forgotten Contemporaries (Blackwell 1994 & 1996) which accompanied 'The Golden Nineties' touring exhibition (shown 1996/1997 at Lincoln, Exeter, Sheffield and Swansea art galleries), and Hilda Carline: Mrs Stanley Spencer (Lund Humphries, 1999), a catalogue for an exhibition of the artist's work seen at Lincoln, Exeter, York and Swansea art galleries and Kenwood House, London.
