While I can't wander round the City on my lunch break at the moment, I've collected a few paintings showing views nearby, all from the collection of Guildhall Art Gallery.

Who can resist taking a peek at themselves in a shop window? Here the storefront reflects the street scene.

Cheapside has long been a major thoroughfare but has been increasingly pedestrianised in recent times. Little consideration seems to be given to rights of way or pedestrian safety!

Lower Thames Street is shown packed with activity. I like the hand-barrows and the suited man struggling with a heavy crate in the centre.

We usually look up at St Paul's Cathedral, but this interesting view shows the scale of the building and the impressive facade. A different elevated view of St Paul's can today be had from the roof terrace of One New Change.

I haven't been inside St Paul's for a long time, but the artist here has captured the architectural detail and contemplative silence.
