Located on the Penwith Peninsula to the south of Penzance, the village of Lamorna was home to the artist Samuel John Birch (1869–1955) who settled there in 1892 and painted the stream in his garden, the Lamorna Cove and wider Cornish landscape for over sixty years. He used ‘Lamorna’ Birch as an artist at the suggestion of Stanhope Forbes to distinguish him from local artist Lionel Birch. Developed in association with Grant Waters, Art Detective Group Leader: South East England, East England and the Midlands.
