The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery opened in 2008, following the development of the University of Leeds Collection over the best part of a century, initially under Sir Michael Sadler, the Vice Chancellor in the 1920s, then the Eric Gregory Fellowships and finally under Quentin Bell, Professor of Fine Art in the late 1950s. The Burtons are part of the Burton clothing business that originated in Leeds. Developed in association with Grant Waters, Art Detective Group Leader: South East England, East England and the Midlands.
