Doncaster’s heritage, from railways to horse racing, is reflected within Heritage Doncaster's Fine Art collection, in paintings of the St Leger, its locomotive works and local markets. A mixture of gifts, bequests and purchases has enabled the development of its 20th Century holdings, with a significant collection of artworks by Sir Frank Brangwyn, paintings by Anna Airy, Nina Hamnett, John Bratby, Gyrth Russell and a good grouping of Edward Wolfe to name but just a few, as well as sculptures by Henri Gaudier Brezeska, Frank Dobson, Jacob Epstein, and Charles Sargeant Jagger among many others. The new modern museum building, incorporating part of Doncaster High School for Girls, opened in May 2021.
