From 'Open Air Sculpture in Britain': 'Portland stone and Ffestiniog slate, mounted on a rough plinth with a slate slab supporting the five carved forms. The centre, thicker twin upright is in Portland stone, contrasting with the dark grey of the other slate forms. From the side, the slate forms resemble shields held upside down in the immemorial Welsh legend "Is it peace?". The work was presented by the Association for the Arts in North Wales to the Parish Council of Aberffraw in 1970. It was unveiled by Ben Bowen Thomas in May 1970.' The statue's present location at the Anglesey Countryside Centre, is in the area where Llywelyn held court. Aberffraw was associated with Rhodri Mawr (d.AD 877), Owain Gwynedd (1110–1170) and Llywelyn Fawr (1173–1240).
