This painting depicts Windsor Street in Uxbridge including St Margaret’s Church. Windsor Street meets the High Street at a corner where a market developed in the twelfth century. St Margaret’s Church was built at the junction of the two roads in order to serve the growing population of Uxbridge. The church is well known for its beautiful hammer beam roof and is the oldest building in Uxbridge.
