A late seventeenth-century white marble bust of William III, facing slightly to his right, wearing a long curled wig, a lace stock at his neck and a cloak draped about his shoulders. The sitter's nose has a distinctive bend at the top which can be seen in contemporary portraits and busts of William III. The bust is supported by a concave green marble socle. The bust is unsigned. An inventory of Knole dating from 1765 lists two busts of William III in its terrace, possibly referring to this bust and NT 130070. However, there are no busts of William III listed in subsequent inventories. Charles Sackville, 6th Earl of Dorset, was made a Privy Counsellor, Lord Chamberlain in 1689 and Knight of the Garter in 1692 during the reign of William and Mary.
