Born in Edinburgh, Bryce’s interest in art was encouraged by his teacher at the Academy, John Firth. Bryce then went on to study at the Edinburgh College of Art under Sir Robin Philipson and Sir William Gillies and it was these tutors that encouraged his love of colour and texture, which can be seen in this work. Bryce is now one of Scotland’s most notable Academicians and his work is held in the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, as well as numerous private collections.
