The work consists of a round stone plinth, square pedestal with basins on each side, relief ornament and protruding oil lamps. There is a gas lamp on raised animal feet, a round fluted shaft with acanthus base and fern capital, bars and supports for the missing gas lamp. There is a plaque commemorating J. Watts. The work was cast in Glasgow.
