A cairn with inset panels, surmounted by a figure of a kilted soldier with rifle standing by a rock. The memorial is elevated on a raised platform and enclosed to the rear by a boundary wall terminating in square piers with inset date plaques and ball finials. The figure was based on a photograph of Private Robert McLaughlin of the Black Watch who died on the Somme in 1915.
