Vishnu as Venugopal, the bearer of Venu, a classical Indian flute. Standing with his right leg crossed over his left, and with four arms. He is playing the flute with two hands (the flute is missing), with the other two hands he is holding a conch shell and the Sudarsharna Chakra (discus-like weapon). These objects are very finely detailed and the casting includes fine jewellery at his neck, waist and wrists. His left eye and belly-button are inlaid with gold and a red precious stone (possibly a ruby). The right eye socket and third eye on his forehead are empty, but would originally also have contained the same inlay. He stands on a square pedestal decorated with lotus leaves. Venugopal is a form of Krishna, a major avatar of Vishnu.
