A view of steam locomotive 'Novelty' pulling a waggon loaded with barrels and wool sacks, covered carriage lettered 'Railway Omnibus', and two flat trucks carrying road carriages and passengers. R. Martin's Lithog, 124 High Street Holborn. The 'Novelty', an 0–2–2WT locomotive now regarded as the first tank engine, was built by John Braithwaite and John Ericsson and entered in the famous Rainhill Trials in October 1829.
