Pencil on paper drawing laid on board at corners. This is a view from the dais looking down the Guildhall to the door, which stands open. Shafts of sunlight come through the South windows and light the interior of the original medieval ‘Town’ or Guildhall. The walls have displays of guns, swords, and a large bell; and the statue of Queen Victoria is in one of the North aisles, facing inwards. There are four figures in the view. The view is inscribed: “The Guild Hall: York. Interior from the Dais. Sketched June 2, 1906” and “E Ridsdale Tate 18.6.06”. Also inscribed: “Original Drawing of the Guildhall E Ridsdale Tate.
