The view from Mont Blanc takes in the 4,000-metre peaks in the distance all the way to the Matterhorn and the Monte Rosa massif in Zermatt, Switzerland.

Gabriel Loppé studied under Francois Didier and Leon Villevielle and was the first French member of the Alpine Club. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Salon. Loppé founded the Compagnie de Guides de Haute Montagne in Chamonix where the Musée Alpin, his former home, now holds over 40 of his oil paintings.
