A table-top like structure with a photo and information piece commemorating each of the ten recipients of the Victoria Cross who had connections with the borough of Tunbridge Wells. It is surrounded by twenty one oak trees planted during the winter of 1994/1995 and dedicated on the 50th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, on 8 May 1995.

2006 marked the anniversary of Royal Tunbridge Wells and the 150th anniversary of the Victoria Cross. To commemorate the two anniversaries, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council commissioned Andrew Motion to write a poem, and artist Charles Gurrey to create a memorial sculpture. Extracts from the poem, 'Remembrance', feature on the sculpture. The ten names of the Victoria Cross recipients are: Lionel Ernest Queripel, William Hew Clark-Kennedy, Eric Stuart Dougall, William Robert Fountains Addison, Douglas Walter Belcher, John Duncan Grant, William Temple, Matthew Charles Dixon, Charles Davis Lucas and John Henry Cound Brunt.
