Penny Robbins has worked at Salisbury District Hospital as ArtCare’s artist-in-residence since June 1999. She studied for a BA in Wood, Metal, Ceramics and Plastics at Brighton Polytechnic. After that Penny worked in Enfield, North London running art and woodwork sessions, as part of the Occupational Therapy Departments, at Chase Farm Hospital and Camlet Lodge Medium Secure Unit. In Hackney, East London she set up the art and carpentry project in a community centre, working with adults dealing with homelessness and other issues. She also studied Art Therapy at the University of Hertfordshire and Arts Management at Roehampton before moving Salisbury. As she says: "I enjoy the opportunity to use art materials every day and find new and exciting ways to engage people in doing the same. Participation is as important as the end result and I find that I prefer the bustle of working with others to the solitude of studio work."
