The central figure of the pediment is Edward VII, seated upon a throne wearing his coronation robes and wielding his orb and sceptre. To his right sits a draped female figure with a sword and crown representing freedom and loyalty. To his left is another draped female figure representing truth and justice and holding a mirror and scales. Behind these figures are two putti: one supports a shield with the Lancaster arms surmounted by a crown; the other supports Lord Ashton’s coat of arms. At the far right and far left of the group are recumbent lions.
