A tall stone clock tower with a wind vane fitted to the top of a curved copper roof with copper fascia. It has four clock faces under a roof with back illumination, plus a vent and date stones. At the lower level, there is stone walling with a door, plaques and a cast iron drinking font. The decision to build a clock was taken after the town council asked the public for millennium ideas. The inauguration marked the completion of the Upper Great Darkgate Street improvement scheme, which was funded by the Welsh Development Agency, Wales Tourist Board, Ceredigion County Council, Aberystwyth Town Council and Heron Brearley Ltd. The cast iron drinking font was a feature of the original clock and had been stored in Ceredigion Museum since the demolition of the original tower.
