A tall ornamental fountain with a small relief of the 'Titanic' at the top. The fountain stands on a square base and plinth with round columns at each corner supporting a roof under which rests a closed plain urn. Above the roof a further cupola supported by four columns. When the 'Titanic' Engineers Monument was unveiled, there was a public outcry that there was no memorial to the crew (the stewards, sailors, and firemen) of the ship, most of whom came from Southampton. The widows, mothers and friends of the crew subscribed to have this monument erected. It originally stood in the Avenue at the entrance to the Common but was moved to Holy Rood for safe keeping in 1972.
