Use of perfume at the toilet. Three women at a washbasin; on either side an attendant, one with an alabastron (pottery or glass vessel), the other with a plemochoe (covered bowl, often used to hold perfumed oil). The lettering on the washbasin is a popular sentimental inscription, typical of the period, meaning ‘you are beautiful’. From an attic red-figure vase (now lost) 470–460 BC.
