This landscape painting looks over Deal and beyond to Sandown Castle, from the higher ground behind Walmer Castle. In the foreground, to the right, is Walmer Castle, surrounded by woodland and with small lodge house on the road to the Castle in the centre. In the foreground, to the left, is a house with a Dutch gable and outbuildings. Deal Castle is in the middle ground with the town of Deal behind.
