The windmill on the left was known as Red House Mill. Behind it is the horizontal windmill at Battersea and on the right Chelsea Parish Church.

This is closely related to Thomas Girtin's composition known as 'The White House at Chelsea' (Tate Britain). It is more likely, however, to have been copied from one of two prints made after the watercolour: Thomas Lupton's mezzotint, titled 'Chelsea Reach, Looking Towards Battersea', or Samuel William Reynolds' mezzotint which is part of the 'Liber Naturae or A Collection of Prints from Drawings of Thomas Girtin'. Both were published in 1823.
