Sculpture of two young women, at a scale of one-third-over-life-size, sitting on a two-bar fence, mounted on a circular pavement. The left-hand figure turns and leans to her left, her left arm round her companion’s shoulders and her right hand cupped towards her companion’s ear. The listening figure rests both hands on the top bar of the fence and with her head cocked slightly towards the speaker, looks away, as if assessing what she is hearing. On completion The Whisper was shown at the Royal Academy where the Milton Keynes Development Corporation saw it and commissioned it in bronze for a site outside the Milton Keynes library.
