Painter and printmaker Alfred Harris was born in London in 1930 and studied at Willesden School of Art and the Royal College of Art. He also lectured in art education at the University of London’s Institute of Education, where he was appointed Head of Department in 1983. His work is held in collections in London, Oxford, Tel Aviv and Sweden.
Harris’s first solo exhibition was at the Ben Uri in 1959 and a number of his graphic works were shown in a joint show with Jacob Bornfriend in 1974. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a member of The London Group and a former Member of the Royal West of England Academy.
