Grand view of the royal entourage of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert visiting Manchester in 1851, the procession passing along Piccadilly and proceeding towards Portland Street. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert are being transported in the royal horse-drawn carriage. The Royal Infirmary with an ornamental lake and fountain can be seen to the left, with crowds passing on either side of the road in jubilation. Flags and banners hang from the buildings, and the scene is set against a blue sky with dramatic white clowds.
