A statue depicting a miner pushing the last coal tub before the closure of the South Hetton Colliery in the 1980s. The plinth also bears the names of those who worked at the mine and engraved on the plaque is a poem written by sculptor Ray Lonsdale, dedicated to all those who lived and worked as part of the South Hetton Colliery community.
