Set within a shallow circular ornamental pool is a life-size figure of a shrimper. His trousers are rolled up and he is wearing a battered hat and holding a large traditional shrimping net which is positioned to his right and balanced horizontally before him. The net is imaginary, but the effect is enhanced by the water sprays which stream from the straight bar of the net. Upon his back is his wicker basket for gathering the shrimps, known locally as a 'leop'. Shrimping is a long-established practice in and around Morecambe Bay.
