Ink on paper drawing of a depiction of the seal impressions of the medieval seal matrices used the Company. The oval one pertained to the hospital and shows her Coronation in Heaven Christ after her Assumption. The legend says ‘Common seal of the brothers and sisters of the Hospital of the Blessed Virgin Mary next to Foss Bridge York’. The round secular seal pertained to the York Mercers’ Guild, the predecessor of the Company shows the Trinity between two ships on waves The legend says: ‘Seal of the Community of Mercers of Holy Trinity, York’. Inscribed in pencil below the drawing and initialled in ink: “E Ridsdale Tate, Ap 1913” and “E. R. T." Inscription on the back: Fig. 1 and 2 are drawn from wax impressions in The York Company.
