The mural depicts the course of the River Avon flowing towards the sea and includes noticeable Wiltshire and Hampshire landmarks such as Stonehenge, Old Sarum, Salisbury Cathedral, Clearbury Ring and Mizmaze. The mural is treated as a collage painting the landscape from the air and the ground with some details of geology (flints, fossils). The paint has been applied in a thin wash, almost as a stain, allowing the woodgrain to give rhythm and texture.
