Townscape, view of the Quay at Bristol; foreground, the river, two mariners on a passenger steam boat with two funnels, four figures with rowing boats and a quayside with steps; middleground, a car, railings, numerous figures, a horse pulling a merchant\'s wagon, a tram with passengers and a pylon with wires; background, a row of four storey terraced quayside buildings with shops, canopies, signboards, advertisements, a flag pole and a theatre with scaffolding. Etched in a narrow, tentative line with parallel lines and some cross hatching. Extensive use of stopping out to create subtle tonal variations.
