A pub interior with a fireplace on the right and a window in the back wall. Two men sit opposite each other at a table placed in front of the window. Another man stands next to them on the left. A bearded man (Wilford Hadfield) sits in front of the fireplace with his legs crossed and his hat in his hand. He is taking a glass from a tray held by a waiter (possibly the landlord, Mr Joyce) on his right. The engraver's signature is in the lower left corner; the illustrator's initials in the lower right.
