A scene painted in an oval, one of a pair, of three women on a country lane. The woman on the left has her back to us, and is wearing a straw bonnet and ribbon. She pulls nuts off the branches of a tree. The woman in the centre of the picture is facing us, and pulls on the bough so the others can reach. In the bottom right corner is the third woman, who kneels to collect the fallen nuts. Behind her is the tree trunk. In the foreground on the right is a basket and fallen leaves.
