Copied after an original by Titian (q.v.; Vienna, Kunsthistorisches Museum) and engraved by Lucas Vorsterman in 1660 for the Theatrum Pictorium (see Teniers P635 and P637–638). The collection was kept in the château of Coudenberg, Brussels, which Teniers evoked in a number of fanciful views of the Archduke’s picture gallery. The grandest view (versions Petworth (dated 1651) and Vienna, Kunsthistorisches Museum) includes the original of the present picture, and in a version at Schleissheim it appears prominently displayed on an easel.
